If it is like the assembler in the original BBC BASIC on the BBC Micro then you should be able to assemble to a BASIC variable and then just call the variable to activate the code, once finished it should then return to BASIC. So you could do something like: DIM C% 300 (to reserve 300 bytes) and the...

I think you get square brackets with the 80 column card but that may be just a display font rather than an extra character set?

My loft is also sadly my main storage area. And varies from -100 to +100 deg C! It is however extremely dry up there thanks to really good ventilation. I have not had any issues yet (*) - the key is let anything that comes down from the loft to acclimatise, ideally with case open, for a day or so be...

The Silicon Disc sounds very interesting! How does the speed compare to the floppy drives in real world usage? Silicon Disc is very fast. Data transfer rate is 1.5Mbps, compared to 250Kbps for 3" floppy. That's six times quicker and overheads much lower as no head to move and no waiting for the rig...
